Couple renovates used Fleetwood Prowler into tiny home

Julia Dreads and her boyfriend Drew were having trouble finding a place to live. Every time they found a suitable apartment, it would be rented out before they had a chance to apply for it. They thought about purchasing a yurt to live in, but had no land for it. They considered living on a sailboat, but quickly realized that they were not suited for life on the water. "We really had no clue what we were doing there," Dreads says with a laugh in a June 24, 2015, video on her YouTube channel.
They had a friend who lived in an Airstream recreational vehicle; that example stuck in Dreads' mind, and she began looking online for ideas about converting a camper into a tiny home. They moved close to family to save money and have access to tools and other resources, purchased a 1984 Fleetwood Prowler and fixed it up for less than $5,000.

It was important to the couple to pay cash for their dwelling; they did not want to have any loan payments. They had worked full time for years, and had saved enough cash to take a break and build their home. They also knew that they did not want to return to their previous lifestyle of working so hard.
Dreads relays a story about watching a documentary on minimalism: "Something (the announcer) said really stuck with me," she says. "He said, 'you can always make back your money, but you can't make back your time,' and that's exactly true."
That's not to say that their lifestyle is sedate; Dreads says they work now more than ever. "We work probably harder now, not working full-time jobs. It's more grueling labor than anything, but we have more fun and it's more working for ourselves."
This is the lovely main room of their camper. It includes a kitchen, dining area and a TV.
It's also full of "secret" storage spots.
The lamp made out of a strainer is a lovely addition to the house.
There's plenty of storage underneath the futon, but also inside the stairs that lead to the upstairs bedroom.
Despite how cool this camper is, it's difficult to deny that it's this gorgeous and original bathroom that takes the cake.
A vintage map covers almost every surface in the bathroom giving it a lovely bohemian touch that is certainly covet-worthy.
