Take a peek inside Chris Sawey's lovely #MotelCamper

After all his most important possessions were stolen from his car, recent college grad Chris Sawey was completely at a loss about his future. Rather than be defeated, Sawey saw an opportunity to embark upon a new adventure in the form of his Prius and an 80-square-foot 1962 Vintage Beeline Camper.
Following months of crashing on couches, Sawey lived out of his car — affectionately nicknamed #HotelPrius — before stumbling upon this camper on Craigslist. Armed with a basic knowledge of carpentry from volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and unparalleled drive, he was able to forge a space to truly call his own in the form of #MotelCamper.

According to an interview with Moment, the entire endeavor took nearly 15 weeks to complete and cost Sawey roughly $8000. He tells Moment:
"The whole concept and design was my own vision. I did my best to get the most out of every inch of space and include all the amenities that a normal house or home would include. I don’t have everything, but certainly have enough to enjoy the minimalist lifestyle I’ve come to find freedom in.”

Here is #HotelPrius and the beginnings of #MotelCamper. Sawey renovated the camper in Nashville, Tenn. before relocating it to Austin, Texas.
Though Sawey lives in #MotelCamper, he occasionally rents it out via AirBnB.

Here is the kitchen. As you can see, it is fully equipped with a sink, mini fridge and freezer, two-burner cooktop stove, microwave, coffee maker, and blender.
Despite the small space, Sawey has plenty of room for storage and utilizes every inch cleverly.

Sawey's choice of decor adds to the homey charm and spirit of adventure of #MotelCamper.
There is also a composting toilet, which ties in with Sawey's dedication to an eco-conscious and sustainable lifestyle.
The water for both the sink and the outdoor shower is sourced from rainwater collection or from a garden hose during periods of light rainfall.
#MotelCamper is even equipped with an air conditioning and heating unit, making it habitable year-round.
Of course, if you want some time in the great outdoors, #MotelCamper is conveniently located adjacent to a fire pit with plenty of seating and even a grill.
