Watch how a Jayco travel trailer went from brown and bland to white and bright

"Camping isn’t what you camp in but the time shared and memories made." That is the philosophy held by the Ball family, a Michigan family who've dedicated their lives to enjoying the great outdoors. As life-long adventurers, they decided to share their experiences through their blog called The Ball Camp. Filled with travel stories, tips for camping with kids, and campground reviews, they hope to inspire other families to make lasting memories through travel.
We found endless inspiration in their DIY renovation of their 2011 Jayco travel trailer. As their family grew, the Balls decided they needed an upgrade from their trusty tent. However, the camper they decided on purchasing also looked like it needed an upgrade. Jamie writes on her blog, "It’s not vintage. But it is ugly. Why are campers so stock? So boring? SO Brown. Really Brown."

Pretty soon it was time to get to work and the trailer went from this dark, brown cave...
...to this beautifully illuminated home for four. The original pull-out sofa was replaced by bench seating and extra storage. After painting the cabinets white, they added a backsplash for a pop of color.
For the light color and the ease of installation, they chose a wood-textured vinyl for the new flooring.
After removing the original brown headboard, the couple created their own with basic materials from Home Depot. Loving the look of reclaimed wood, they created their own aged look with wood stains.
Keeping the toilet and the sink separated by a door, the bathroom functions perfectly for a family of four.
The bathroom features a standard RV toilet and a full shower.
The kids' area has the same stained wood as the parents' bedroom. These bunk beds are not only amazing space savers, but are also incredibly fun.
Last but not least, the exterior decals had to go in order to make room for a much more aesthetically pleasing Ball Camp logo.
